Arm numbers and Transponders;

Please fit arm numbers on the RIGHT arm, and make sure the Transponders are not covered by socks which can reduce the signal strength and cause missed readings.

Hazards:

The following hazards need due care and attention to have a safe race:

  1. Wooden path edges:
    The edges on some of the gravel paths are visible and will be a slip hazard if you change your line in the wrong place. They will be highlighted with white marker.
  2. Exit on the start field:
    this narrows for a hundred metres so please do not attempt to overtake on this path as it will endanger your and the person you are trying to overtake. There is plenty of width when on the course itself to overtake so please ride sensibly.
  3. Posts:
    There are some Orienteering posts on the course, please locate them during your warm up laps.
  4. Public:
    this is a public park and information signs have been posted, however you may come across the odd person walking a dog. Please be polite when saying excuse me to pass and don’t run them over.

Starting Field:

The start will be held on the large field at the back of the Park. The riders will have a 20m wide area to line up, so please let NWCCA leaders on the front row, with National ranked riders.

1st small lap – from the start head down the field and around the back of the large tree (care to avoid the remnants of the bonfire -taped off) back up to the start position.

2nd lap – go past the same large tree then head across the field to turn at the marshal, head up towards the exit and filter onto the path in a sensible manner.

The 1st main lap will go past the old steps and remain on the path, (noting the following lap you will turn left onto the singletrack) and head straight onto the finish line. After crossing the mats, a gentle right turn will lead to a temporary detour past the pits and up the Youth climb. (Without this loop it will be a very long run to get to the pits). At the top you will be on the course proper.

Main Course :

From the finish mat there is a climb with a couple of poles to bunny hop, onto grass (muddy) paths to a steep drop. After the drop turn up the cobbled path (kinderkoppen) to turn down a gravel path which leads onto a wider tarmac path (care on corner). Turn left down the “Staddies Slalom” watch out for the post on the left (padded) , right on the path and head up the old steps climb. At the top turn right down another slight drop (muddy again), left and left again, right and down the path before dropping to the pits.
Left up the hill to turn right onto another path and right again to drop to the finish field loops and past the pits again before looping before the finish. Lap time will be approx 6 minutes for the leaders.
