Preview: Stadt Moers Cyclo-Cross, 17 December 2017

North Cheshire Clarion welcome riders to the Stadt Moers Cyclocross event on Sunday 17th December. Signing on (and toilets) will be in the Ranger’s Hut as usual.

The Course

This year, not surprisingly, the weather has meant that the course is significantly more waterlogged than in recent editions. As a result, the course has had to be changed slightly and is a bit shorter than normal.

The double pit area will be in the usual place, however the ground is already very waterlogged and for that reason, we request that jet washers are not used in the pit area to avoid turning the area into a lake. We will arrange an area nearby where bikes can be washed if needed. Please bear with us on this and we’ll try our best to make it workable. It’s advisable to bring thermal wellies if you’re going to be in this area!

The start will be on the path near the Lake, however a degree of caution and respect to fellow riders is required as there are fixed items of furniture that will cause serious injury if a rider veers off the path and hits it. So please ride cautiously on the path until you reach the grass to the race proper on the wide course. Riders will be gridded in rows of 6 and please line up in sections according to your League placing.

Be Nice

PLEASE show caution and care passing riders when travelling down the fast path from M7 to M9 on the map below – although there’s sufficient room to pass, there are wooden slats on either side of the path in places, that are very slippy!

Parking

There is limited parking at the Rangers Hut, Pottery Lane, Whiston, Merseyside L35 3RG and it’s likely to fill up very quickly, early in the day.

There is a small overflow car park on the opposite side of Pottery Lane but this will also fill up quickly too. If you’re riding in the seniors or vets races, we suggest parking on Fallows Way which is at the bottom end of the course – use postcode L35 1RZ

Setting up stuff

If you’re bringing a gazebo, there will be some space on the grass on the left hand side of the main path as you enter the park from the railway bridge.
