NEWS FLASH!! Northern Area Champs postponed

It is with regret that following the recent bad weather in the North East of England that the NECCA have to announce that the North of England Cyclo-Cross Championships have been postponed.

Co-organisers Keith Murray & Cliff Featherstone along with other volunteers spent Saturday afternoon attempting to make the circuit & facilities safe for riders.

Despite a day of sunshine the ground was still frozen and sheet ice meant dangerous conditions, with no parking and riders safety in mind a decision was made at 3pm not to run the event.

The ice had frozen to such a degree that the Facilities Management Company that run the Hetton Lyons Park (Springboard Leisure) had shut the car park with a thick layer of ice. The entry road requires access to the adjacent Quarry, there would be nowhere for competitors to park.

The current plan is to re-run the event on Saturday 3rd January 2009.
