Beacon Country Park Cross Preview

Sunday 18th January sees the North West Cyclo Cross League return to Beacon Country Park for the final event of the season. Organised by the St Helens CRC, the Youth event will start the day off at 11am.

S/J/V/W Course
The S/J/V/W course will be slightly different to last year with more use of paths and other sections of the park. The leg killer climb along side the driving range is out with a much faster ascent through the bottom woods. The majority of the course is ride-able with only the steps to the finishing area requiring those finely tuned dismounts and remounts! There is a new off-camber descent which will test handling skills and a long flat straight for the ‘road’ riders to get their lungs burning!
Beacon Course
S/J/V/W race will start over in the big field near car park 3.

Signing On
Riders will be able to sign on at Beacon Golf Club from 09:30. The Golf Club will be serving tea & coffee for £1 throughout the day. Toilets are at the Rangers Centre, not in the golf club. Please do not enter the golf club wearing muddy footwear.

Please do not get changed in any of the toilets after the race. Last year we had to pay for the toilets to be cleaned after the event due to this.

For those with sat navs, the postcode for Beacon Country Park is WN8 7RU. There are 3 car parks within walking distance of the Golf Club. Please use the other car parks when the 1st is full.

Arm Numbers & Pits
Arm numbers are to be worn on your left arm. There is strictly no jet-washers allowed in the pit area.
Jet-washers can be used but away from the pit area to prevent soaking all the other pits crews.

Prize Presentations
We are aiming to hold the prize presentations within 30mins of the Youth, Under 12 and Under 10/8 races. The other races may take a little longer.
For Youth, Under 12, Under 10/8 there will be prizes for the top 3 boys and top 3 girls in the following categories: U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8. The prize presentations for these races will take place at the PA tent close to the pit area.

    A few quick questions.

1 – As a league rider should I just turn up, pay and sign-on as normal on Sunday.

2 – I’m a league rider – as this is the last race of the season do I / should I return my league numbers at the end of this race?

3 – A colleague from work who’s a non-league, non-BC rider wants to give it a go, on Sunday. I’ve suggested online sign-up, but if he doesn’t – I’m assuming he can still enter on the line on Sunday as per other races this season?

      Hi Ben,
      1. Yep you can enter on the day as usual.
      2. We’ll be collecting numbers back in at Beacon
      3. Yep he can still enter on the day, it will be quicker at signing on for him if he enters online as we can have all his details printed on the signing on sheets.
      Cheers
