Is it possible to have more singletrack than Otterspool Park? Well – yes, frankly. There”s something sinister about the woods at Sherdly Park; tree roots lurk in unexpected places, mud-a-plenty, and just enough open space per lap for this to technically be called a cyclo-cross rather than a jungle exploration. Hard work passing people (or being passed) and you can expect multiple lacerations from the overenthusiastic flora. An ”old style” cyclo cross course that would bring tears to the eyes of the Belgians. And indeed most Brits.
How to get there: From St.Helens town centre, take the A570 Linkway to Sherdley Park. From the M62, exit at junction 7 and take the A570 Linkway north towards Sherdley Park. At the roundabout with a petrol station and McDonalds on your left, take the RIGHT turn and follow this road for a couple of hundred yards until you see the park entrance on your right. Follow this parkland road to its end.
