A qualifying round of the 2007/08 NWCCA race league
Red Rose Olympic Scorton Scramble
13 January 2008
Wyreside Park, Snow Hill Lane, Scorton, PR3 1BA
Directions: (see map below)
From M6 exit at junction 32 for M55 but exit immediately first junction and join A6 at Broughton roundabout and travel north. Follow signs for Garstang stay on A6, travel through Barton, Bilsborrow, Brock, Catterall, Garstang and Cabus. Turn right off A6 onto Gubberford Lane opposite petrol station; sign posted Trough of Boland and The Priory (brown signs). Also look out for Red Rose directional signs (white triangles with Red Rose logo on them).
Follow road into Scorton Village turn right into Snow Hill Lane opposite the Old Barn, go past the Priory Pub / Hotel and keep on going up the hill. You will eventually see a large Red Rose banner at the entrance to the park.
Turn left through main entrance for parking in front of the main house or go straight on for further parking that is by the side of the road, which is slightly nearer the start finish. Larger motor homes may struggle to park as entrance and adjacent lanes are narrow.
The racing takes place around the landowner’s house, and adjoining land. As we are still in the shooting season the landowner has asked spectators not to walk in the wooded areas so as not to disturb the pheasants. If you want to walk around the course please keep to the taped areas. Please also remember this is private land and a working farm so be aware that we are racing around the landowners home. The course is a good tough test with plenty of mud, fast compact lanes, mud, hurdles, mud, cobbles, oh and did I mention the mud?
We have cut out the cobbled section for the U12’s but it will still be good test for the stars of the future.
One last thing please be aware that you will need to walk along part of the course to get to the start and HQ so if you are a competing in the senior event please keep to the side of the relevant road if you arrive during the youth race. Also please do not warm up during the youth and U12 race.
