Under 23 rider Jack Humphreys took victory in the Weaver Valley Cyclo Cross event held on Greenbank Playing Fields in Northwich on Saturday.
The race, round five of the Lazer North West Cyclo-Cross League, featured last week’s winner Giles Drake but he couldn’t repeat his performance, finishing second to Humphreys.
The Wheelbase Altura MGD rider crossed the line ahead of Drake with Martin Woffindin of Cycle Sport Pendle in third place. The top junior rider was Horwich CC’s Joseph Peatfield who finished ninth overall.
In the race for women and veterans, it was Adrian Lawrence of Team Elite who took victory with www.zepnat.com RT’s Peter Middleton in second. Veteran 50 rider, Mick Style of Manchester Wheelers Club, came third. Diane Lee (Mule Bar Girls) was the top woman, 15th overall.
In the youth categories Lewis Hartley of Velocity WD-40 was quickest under 16 boy and winner of the youth race. Finishing fourth overall, Isaac Peatfield (Bolton Hot Wheels CC) was top under 14 boy.
The quickest girl was an under 14 rider, Nicole Clarke (Birkenhead North End CC) who came seventh overall. In the under 12 race, Aidan Lawrence of Eastlands Velo and Niamha Albones of Liverpool Century were the victors and in the under 10 race it was Benjamin Mashiter of Furness Future Flyers and Imogen Peatfield of Bolton Hot Wheels CC.
