NWCCA Round 12 (Carlisle) is cancelled: League rule affected

Paul King, organiser of round 12 of the NWCCA series has been in discussion with the NWCCA committee and on Paul’s advice, the committee fully backs his recommended decision that the event should be cancelled.

ba1deb17-0610-42eb-a3d6-c7fe958dea7aThis is obviously a difficult decision, and a lot of work has gone into the event to date, but with the after-effects of Storm Desmond showing little sign of dying down in a hurry, and all of the park under flood water right now (see image), there are risks that public and rider health is at risk from effluent on the course.  Furthermore, the local community is obviously putting great effort into coping and rebuilding Carlisle.  Although the influx of Cyclocross folks would give a good sign in some ways, even if things did improve very rapidly, making a filthy park filthier does not seem appropriate and is not palatable.

All involved hope that you understand the delicate situation in Carlisle and respect this decision.  We have obviously considered this at length.

League

Given that a good number of riders in all age groups were expecting to ride three more events to complete and / or finalise their average points in the league at this late stage, NWCCA confirms that the 2015-16 league will be based on an average of 9 counting events.
