Preview: Round 6 / Geoff Bewley Redux ‘Cross, Stadt Moers – 3rd Nov 2018
This in from Mike Fugaccia, Sunday’s race organiser
After a few years of searching for a new home for the Liverpool Century cyclocross event we have found one at Stadt Moers Park. We are using a new part of the park and a new sign on location.
The course
A new venue means a new course for you to play with! The course has been designed and hacked out of the earth with a massive input/effort from Steven Henshall and we’ve hopefully got something for everybody, so you can all get your edge somewhere. For the technical riders there are several wooded sections with ample space to pass, grass straights for the big engines and some planks for those who can bunny hop. So, if you’ve got all three, you’re in for a good time. There are a few sections of single track but there is ample opportunity to pass throughout the course. Being that this is a new course there may be some changes on the day depending on the weather so please bear with us.
The start will be near the Sign-on end of the park for Youth/Senior/Vets/Women. It will be clearly identified on the day and you’ll pass it on your right as you enter the main field.
The pits are as near to the car park as is possible but expect a short walk along a flat tarmac path to the pits, we have plenty of space for you to spread out in. There are restrictive barriers around the entrances so please be aware of a potential height/width restriction for those that use wheelie bins for the pits.
As always with public parks please be aware that members of the public will be using the park, please be respectful and direct any complaints to me.
For the rest of the races the start will be on the path where the lap board is situated. The course for these races will be decided nearer the day as the weather may affect the course choices. I will post a final course nearer the event.
The race timings will be the regular NWCCA ones with podiums fitted in as soon as we have results, so if you’re in the top 3 please hang around. We will have Joe Earley on the mic so be prepared for some unsightful comments.
