Preview: Horwich Humdinger, Broughton Hall, NWCCA Round 6
A slight change in venue this year for the Horwich Humdinger, we’ve moved up the road a bit…to the Broughton Hall Estate! Thanks to the lovely people at Hope Technology, we’ve the opportunity to race on what will also be used for the final round of this year’s National Trophy series, so if you’ve never raced one and wondered what the races would be like, or if you’re a seasoned Trophy competitor looking to check out the new venue now’s your chance!
We can promise truly entertaining courses for every category – skills and fitness will be tested on tracks that promote great, close racing – and the post race coffee’s good too!
Not too late!
Entries are still open and will close at 9pm on Wednesday 8th December. No entries taken after then, whatsoever.
Can you help?
With the very low light, we’d really appreciate anyone taking place in the final Elite man’s race taking a few moments to help get some stakes in and tape down at the end of the day.
Getting here
If you’re using sat nav, the best postcode is BD23 3AQ – this will get you to Broughton, with the race site on your left.
If you’re coming over from the west, you’ll get to preview the course briefly on the left as you travel up the A59 towards Skipton (it’s OK, you’ve not missed the turn!), take the left turn onto a minor road signposted for Broughton and Gargrave and the entrance will be on the left after about half a mile.
Please note: The race is not where last year’s “Living with Hope” series was – we’re further along the A59 on the other side.
Parking
There is enough room at the venue for sensible parking and it’s located right next to the event arena so there’s no huge trek to the pits with all your kit, however please do follow instructions from the marshals on arrival – there isn’t enough space for you to set up a sprawling warm up zone all around your vehicle (you can do this in the main field if needs be), the car park is for parking only!
The Course
We have double pits with a separate jet wash area located near the car park, please use the jet wash area for all cleaning rather than muddying up the car park.
The adult courses feature plenty of elevation gain and all should induce grins and grimaces in equal measure!
It will be muddy.
