Preview: Round 7 – Stonyhurst College Cyclocross hosted by Secret-Training.cc

This is an amazing venue so please bring your ‘A’ game, race hard, enjoy yourselves but please do not ride on the sports pitches, or the wild flower meadow and please take any litter home.

Getting There:

Address: Stonyhurst College, Stonyhurst, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 9PZ

Stonyhurst is between Longridge and Clitheroe in the beautiful Ribble Valley.
For satellite navigation use postcode: BB7 9PX

Stonyhurst is the UK’s leading co-educational Catholic boarding and day school for 3 – 18 year olds, originally founded in Saint-Omer, in 1593. Stonyhurst is based in a magnificent Grade I listed building within a secluded and safe 1,000 acre estate, a beautiful rural setting in Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. Overlooking Pendle Hill and the magnificent countryside, the location is stunningly peaceful and perfect for the British Cycling CYCLOCROSS event. There is some wonderful aerial photography on the school website www.stonyhurst.ac.uk

If you plan on riding the majority of league rounds it may be worthwhile purchasing a British Cycling RACE membership. A full race license isn’t required for our league rounds, the provisional license that comes with the RACE membership is sufficient.

If you have a British Cycling RIDE membership, this does not include a provisional license so the BC day membership will be applicable.

Parking

OK if you get there bright and early, and you are willing to stay till the end (and help us pack up even?!?) then you are welcome to come up the drive, turn right and then left following signs to reception and basically park in front of the school right next to the course, etc. HOWEVER, once there you will be there all day since this access road is part of the race course.

There are ~ 50 vehicles spaces on Theodor house car park: up the drive turn right then right.

Once these are full then turn left and use the car parks behind the school.

Overflow car parking:- on road parking before the school.

If you are here to spectate then park in Hurst Green and use the footpath to the course.

Secret-Training.cc is the cycling club supported by premier Sports Nutrition Company Secret-Training.com.  Formed by Tim Lawson (rapidly becoming more known as Katies dad), after Pro Tour cycling team Tinkoff-Saxo asked if it was possible to make a better energy gel.  There was a non-compete clause for a few years since he hadn’t long sold his old nutrition business.  The first products were developed in conjunction with Tinkoff Saxo and later with Mitchelton-Scott.  Maybe give them a try if you get chance.  Use code STCROSS on website for 30% off till end January or call to see how you could benefit from some Secret Training.
