NWCCA – changes to the league for 24/25 Season
In order to ensure the viability of cyclocross racing in the North West, there are a number of changes to the rules, as discussed and agreed at the 2024 AGM.
The key points are as follows
- Entry fees have increased – league membership still provides a discounted event entry fee for Juniors and older
- Cash prizes will be paid at the end of the season
- You agree to volunteer at an event in becoming a member of the league
Taking each of these in turn, we have benchmarked the cost of our events with other leagues and remain confident that we are competitive. For the coming season, entry fees are as follows – Under 12, £4. For league members, Juniors, £12, all other categories, £14 per event
Paying a cash prize at the end of the season reduces the work for individual organisers and is common practice across the country.
We are a series of races that simply could not exist on a commercial basis. We rely on volunteers for the league to run. For the coming season, you agree to volunteer on joining the league. At each event, there will be a volunteer sign on sheet. You must sign this at any event you volunteer for to qualify for the season long competition
The aim of these changes is to ensure we can race for 24/25 and beyond. The situation we had last season, where clubs and individuals have subsidised events is unsustainable.
Likewise, without the help of volunteers, there is simply no future to the league. Thank you to all who have given their time
I look forward to seeing riders, volunteers and supporters at our first race of the season on the 8th September and subsequent events
