The Horwich Humdinger – Round 2 preview and essential info
Cross is back now and Horwich CC are really looking forward to hosting the second round of the NWCCA 2023-24 season back at Leverhulme Park (satnav BL2 1PQ, directions here), with the Horwich Humdinger courtesy of and with the support of Bolton Council!
Its been wet (…it is the cx season), no sign of an Indian summer but it will be a typical Leverhulme course, pretty fast, some technical challenges and some new tweaks to the course! The race times for the season are detailed here.
Some housekeeping….
Parking
Please park considerately within the confines of the Park if at all possible and if you can’t find space, please park with consideration to the local community, don’t block drives etc, the support of the local community is critical to the future of the race. Particular care would be appreciated along Long Lane which runs parallel to the park, thank you!
Security
Its a public park, so please take care with bikes and personal items, keeping vehicles locked and bikes secured at all times, regrettably we have had thefts before, please be vigilant!
Coffee & Cake
We are delighted to welcome Pink Tipple back again, a mobile coffee van on site, who will be providing coffee and cake, and they accept contactless and cash. They’ll be on site before the first race, please give them your trade!
Sign On/Registration
This is located at the Leisure Centre, not the main entrance, but side entrance next to the running track.
Public Park
Leverhulme Park is very popular, so please be courteous and respectful to all visitors and we have access to the toilets in the leisure centre next to registration. Furthermore, the local community have taken great pride in re-wilding areas of the park, please be respectful and protect these areas.

Senior, V40 & Junior Open event riders – could we ask a favour?
You are the last race, we would really appreciate your help after the race helping us take the course down, if everyone could spare 5-10mins after the race bringing in a few stakes and barrier tape each that would help us enormously, thanks in advance!
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday! Horwich CC
