Barnoldswick Cyclocross – 23 October – Results and photos

Tom Armstrong A busy start to the day for the CSP team getting the course marked out and taped before the start of the U12 Go Race event that so 10 eager riders lined up for 10 minutes of racing. Followed by the U16 Go race.

What was really good to see was a large number of these first timers signed up for the age catogories in the league races. Just shows get them on a bike have some fun and they’ll come back for more.

The first NW league race so 30 youths take to the start on what was a challenging course, local CSP rider Oliver Payton had a race length battle with Robert Rogers Birkinhead NE with Robert taking the win in the end.
U12 is the hot bed of cross racing and 40 riders lined up 10 minutes early – you can’t knock their enthusiasm! It took strong control to stop them setting off. CSP rider Jack Barlow made a flying start but was soon overtaken by fellow club member Nathan Hawthorn who then led throughout the race taking a fine win and the second podium of the day for CSP.

The Senior/Junior/Vets/Women was the biggest field of the day with 120 riders converging on the start area. Local Endura pro Ian Wilkinson dropped his paint brush and made the start too which was great to see.

Tom Armstrong showed no sign of nerves of having Ian alongside and led the race from the start and finishing with a good margin with a close battle for second and third between Giles Drake Team Elite and Ian Wilkinson Endura Racing.Giles piping Ian to second at the end with Ian doing his Superman over the line much to the apprieciation of the spectators.
First Vet across the line was Adrian Lawrence with Roy Hunt a close second and Anna Buick University of Manchester the first lady home
A great days racing on a course that proved challenging but with riders full of praise for it.

Many thanks to our sponsors Hope Technology, NCS Commputing, Physiofusion and to the CSP guys and ladies who did a great job on the day
