Almost as if the ‘cross gods had offered an antidote to yesterday’s mudfest, the normal Leverhulme Park service was resumed today in part two of the weekend’s double bubble at a fast, dry and sunny Leverhulme Park. A course almost identical to the recent ones was marked out to good effect and produced some tight racing with close finished up front in most of the races. The day was also made notable by a record field in the Vet / Women event of 173 riders. Not that this was an issue – passing was generally possible through the whole length of the course and it was wonderful to see such great racing again in all categories. A huge well done to all the helpers, organiser and officials involved, and thanks to all the riders who made such a memorable day’s great racing.
