NWCCA Coaching session 4 – Wednesday 8th Oct

Focus for our 4th session: Combining barriers, corners, and descents at higher speed.

We will again have a mixed ability and age group of adults and children, so will do our best to differentiate and help all riders get lots from the 90 minute session.

Below is the outline plan – we will aim to adapt depending on the turnout.

07:00 start at this location https://bit.ly/marlpitscx in Marl Pits, Rossendale

0:00 – 0:10 | Warm-Up

  • Easy laps in pairs.
  • Pairs chase game: 20s chase then swap.

0:10 – 0:20 | Core Intro

  • Demo: descending into corners (brake early, carry speed).
  • Riders copy at low speed.

0:20 – 0:50 | Drill Progression

  1. Barrier → remount → immediate corner.
  2. Descend → tight corner → accelerate.
  3. Link into flowing mini-section.

0:50 – 1:10 | Application

  • Mini-course (60–90 sec): start → barrier → corner → descent.
  • Multiple laps, coaches giving feedback on flow.

1:10 – 1:25 | Race Simulation

  • 2–3 short heats on the mini-course.
  • Emphasise smoothness > speed.

1:25 – 1:30 | Cool-Down & Debrief

  • Easy lap.
  • Group reflection: “Where did you save most time — barriers, corner, or descent?”
