Preview: Round 4 @ Stadt Moers – the Geoff Bewley Memorial Cross 8th November

Liverpool Century Road Club welcomes you to round 4 of the NWCCA 25/26 season.

The weather is doing its best to make sure Stadt Moers will be the usual challenge for the competitors and their drivetrains. With a slight variation on previous years’ courses with a NEW section to add in a small descent and climb, it will offer a chance to see who’s chasing you down on the last lap. That’s if you still have the presence of mind to look.

COURSE DETAILS

The race takes place in a Stadt Moers Park | Knowsley Council so please be courteous at all times to other users. We have always had great feedback from the locals over the years, so it would be good to keep building on this. We provide voluntary services to the park by clearing overgrown paths, which helps reduce our costs. So, thanks to Knowsley Council and the ranger service for allowing us to contribute.

Senior/ Junior/ Youth Course (2KM) Open & Women

The course is run clockwise starting and finishing on the main field. The course is a mix of grassy straights, wooded sections with climbs and descents; all are ridable unless the mud wins or your legs give out!  There will be some low planks (147mm to be exact) so everyone can have a go at getting over them. The full course will be used for the Youths unless conditions deteriorate. Practice will be possible during the U12/10/8 races, you’ll be guided to miss out the section by the planks and finish area and go straight into the woods after the pits. Be aware that there are wooden path runners on parts of the course (highlighted on the map), they will be sprayed to for the race. Arrows on the map indicate the ups and downs for the day, along with a techy off camber section to negotiate.

U12/10 course

This is only an indication of the course location. The start will be just before the judging area.

Planks will be left in for this race! There will be plenty more squiggles on race day. Once again, we will be using a short section of wood to add some variety.

U8 Course

This is only an indication of the course location. The start will be just before the judging area.

This will be a separate from the senior course apart from the main straight. Planks will not be featured in this race.

*Practice times are approximate, please ask before riding the course and listen to all the instructions from the event team.

DO NOT tail the last riders on the course, give them SPACE to finish their event; it can be off-putting and intimidating.

The U12/10/8 courses will be an extension of the finish line area with lots of turns to make it challenging and fun. Parents will be able to view the course, and we will make sure you can get around all the way. Can parents please only enter the course when required to give a little push or encouragement. If you stay on the course you will interfere with other riders, please be mindful of this.

Pits

The pits will be in the centre of the main field just off the main path. It is quite a trek from the town hall to the pits, so please take that into account; there is a tarmac path all the way to the pits. Jet wash area is at the far end of the pits. Please don’t bring dogs into the pit area, it is a busy environment. Please consider other pit crews & equipment when you are in there, so remember to stand with your bikes perpendicular to the line until your rider is near, this frees up more space for others to get access. Riders without helpers will have an area for their bikes. Please avoid leaving them in the middle of the pit area as helpers must cross this to clean bikes and change pit lanes.
