Preview: Christmas Cross at Woodside Outdoor Centre, Saturday 20th December

Round 7 is here just in time for Christmas. Welcome to Christmas Cross hosted by Lancaster Cycling Club.

Before we start, there is a prize for the best dressed/best costume!

Race Venue.

Race Entries close 23:55 Tuesday 16th December and are online via BC.

The race is at Woodside Outdoor Education Centre, BD22 0AA. (Yes it’s in yorkshire, but only just!).

Directions:

From the M6 take the junction to join the M65, heading west past Blackburn. Once you reach the end of the M65 head towards Colne. Go straight across both roundabouts in Colne aiming for Keighley Road. You will reach Cowling, the venue is on the lefthand side nearing the east side of Cowling.

Parking:

Parking at the venue will be £5, this can be paid cash or card. Parking is limited however parking along the road is available. Please park with consideration, making sure not to cross anyones driveway. There will be a marshall at the Car Park to direct you.

Refreshments:

Ramble and Roast coffee bar will be providing refreshments and cake and will be well stocked with great coffee.

Sign On & Course

(An artists impression of the course)
Sign on will be in a purpose built container where the toilets are also housed. This is as you enter the site.

The course is brand new to everyone (hence the “artists” impression of the course). However, it is a purpose-built cross course still in its development. There is a mixture of gravel, grassland, muddy descents and HELLS STEPS! There will be switchbacks and off-camber sections and some fast (if you’re brave) descents. The course is roughly 2 km long and will be shorter for the U12/10/8 race.

As with all NW rounds, please don’t practice whilst others are racing!

Pits & Jetwashes

The Pits are on the top side of the course so you don’t have far to walk. You are NOT to bring your own water or Jetwash onto site as the venue is providing this. Although free to use it is suggested a donation to Ride for Charlie or Evodevo is made for the use of this great service.

Last Race:

It’s just about the shortest day of the year so if anyone can lend a hand to bring the stakes back in that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you – the light will be fading very quickly.
Thanks to Rossendale for the loan of the stakes.

Podiums & Prizes

We will aim to do the prizes as soon as possible after the race. If you think your on the podium please hang around the finish line. We will award the childrens prizes on the day. Big thanks to Tactic.CC for the sponsored prizes for the Senior Open events.
